Greater Atlantic City at a Glance
While a visit to the Greater Atlantic City area is not complete without visiting
downtown Atlantic City, there
is more to the region than casinos,
the Atlantic
City Boardwalk and salt-water taffy. Located along the New
Jersey Shore, this area offers plenty of opportunity for maritime activities
during the summer months, from boat charters to deep-sea fishing excursions. Located
approximately half-an-hour's drive southwest from Atlantic City via Pleasantville
and Somers
Point, the municipality of Ocean
City offers a quiet, oceanside location. While in Ocean City, stroll the town's
own Boardwalk or visit the Historical Museum, complete with photographs telling
the story of this seaside resort. Northeast of Atlantic City, the Marine
Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine
rescues, rehabilitates and releases sea turtles and marine mammals, such as seals,
whales and dolphins. Visitors are welcomed to this facility, allowing them to
learn about the rescue and rehabilitation process. Other towns in the area include
Ventnor City
and Absecon.
